The timbers used for Shutters that Blind Options supply are typically sourced from sustainable plantation forests, making them an ethical sustainable window furnishing. There are two main timbers used, Basswood and Western Red Cedar. Basswood Shutters are generally protected with an opaque coloured paint and not stained due to finger joint manufacturing process. Western Red Cedar Shutters are made with solid timber lengths which make them ideal for staining or painting. Western Red Cedar is a very stable timber especially in high humidity areas such as bathrooms due to its naturally high oil content.
